Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology officially announced the list of Shenzhen typical “Robot+” application demonstration cases in 2026. Shenzhen AKA Robotics Technology Co. LTD. was successfully selected for the case “Application of cleaning robots in bulk carrier cargo hold cleaning based on magnetic adsorption adaptive chassis technology, complex path planning algorithms, and high pressure water jet process technology,” earning municipal authoritative recognition and becoming a benchmark model for intelligent, safe, and green upgrades in ship shipping.
Traditional bulk carrier cargo hold cleaning is a core essential part of shipping maintenance, facing numerous industry pain points over the long term:
The cargo hold has a complex internal structure and special space, and traditional operations rely heavily on manual labor. Not only do they face high-risk safety hazards such as high-altitude and high-pressure operations, but they also suffer from low cleaning efficiency, inconsistent operating standards, and environmental pollution from wastewater residues. At the same time, high labor costs continue to constrain the quality and efficiency improvement of the shipping maintenance industry.
To address these pain points, AKA Robotics has focused on specialized robotics technology and developed an intelligent robot specifically designed for cleaning bulk carrier cargo holds—WallHiker CH-02. This robot builds its core advantages based on three core technologies:

- Magnetic attachment adaptive chassis technology
Featuring permanent magnetic adsorption and flexible chassis design, it can cross 25mm obstacles and pass angles within and outside at 100°~250°, covering over 95% of the cargo hold’s complex areas (including hold frame backs, corrugated bulkheads, and other hard to reach area).
- Intelligent path planning and control systems
Equipped with an intelligent control system, operators can monitor and intervene in a safe area outside the cabin via a human-machine interface. The robot can efficiently and fully cover customized path cleaning according to planned routes, greatly reducing dependence on operator experience and improving standardization and repeatability of operations.
- High pressure water jet process
Integrates a 50MPa high-flow pump set and five multi-degree-of-freedom nozzles, achieving a cleaning efficiency of 720㎡/h, a significant improvement of 300% compared to manual work. The pure water jet efficiently removes stubborn stains such as slag, grain residues, and rust, achieving physical green cleaning with zero chemical additives throughout the process.
This successful selection as a municipal-level demonstration case is a high recognition from the government and industry of AKA robotics technology innovation capabilities and scenario implementation capabilities. In the future, the company will continue to deepen its focus on special operations such as ships and port operations and maintenance, constantly iterating core technologies, expanding the boundaries of robotics applications, and empowering the high-quality transformation and upgrading of the shipping industry with intelligent equipment.
